SYCAMORE—At 8:57 a.m. this morning, School Resource Officer Carl Daniel contacted the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office about possible gunshots at Mohawk School.

The school went into immediate lockdown, and Deputy Daniel called for backup. While waiting for responding units, he cleared the school for possible threats. Multiple units from Wyandot County, surrounding counties, and OSP were dispatched to Mohawk School.

Upon arrival, multiple units searched and secured the school, and no threat was discovered. Through investigation, it was determined that the sound was not a gunshot. The investigation revealed that a student’s bicycle had a back tire blowout in a small hallway area.

Thanks to the quick response from school staff, administration, and first responders, all students are safe and are currently being released back to their parents. A press release will follow in the near future.

The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the parents for their cooperation, understanding, and patience.
