SYCAMORE — After a brief break, a boutique and artisan shop has returned as an option for area shoppers during the holiday season and the rest of the year.

After 23 years in Tiffin, Something Special has a new home in the heart of downtown Sycamore.

The store has a variety of products including a clothing boutique and nine vendors who are artisans. The artisans have antiques, wooden crafts, wreaths, stuffed home decorations, floral arrangements, sports team apparel and crafts and more.

Dawn Riedel said the store is always changing, with something new every season.

“When we opened, we were a fall shop with all kinds of fall décor, and then the fall sold out, so now we’re pretty much Christmas,” she said. “We sell trees. We have Santa and snowmen, wreaths and things like that.”

Riedel said she has items from $5 to hundreds of dollars.

She said after Christmas the store will be “full-fledged into home décor and spring.” Featured items will include Valentine’s Day and Easter items. The theme of the store changes about four times per year.

Each vendor’s room will change throughout the year as well.

Riedel said it carries the excitement of a year-round craft show.

The store also hosts events such as the upcoming “Men’s Night Out” on Dec. 18. At the event men can com in for refreshments and help buying gifts. Women are encouraged to come before the event to make their wish lists for the store staff to use to help the men.

She said she’s excited to once again opening for business after closing the Tiffin location for retirement.

“I didn’t enjoy retirement,” Riedel said. “I liked it for a while, but after a sat there for a while, I wanted something more to do.”

She said the relationships she had with her customers made it an easy decision to go back to work.

“I had a really good business clientele when I was in Tiffin and I would like to reach out to the people in Bucyrus and let them know I’m back open,” Riedel.

Riedel said the Sycamore location near the intersection of Ohio 103, Ohio 67 and Ohio 231 make the store easily accessible for customers from all around the local area.

The store is at 111 S. Sycamore Ave., Sycamore.
