Crawford County Engineer Mark Baker spoke to the Wynford Board of Education Wednesday night about a possible solution for the Holmes Center Road – County Road 330 intersection.

Baker explained to the Wynford Board that more will be known after meeting with the County Commissioners and traffic engineers with ODOT on Tuesday.

The meeting between the Commissioners and Baker will occur at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The public is invited to attend.

Jaime Langston, whose daughter was in a traffic accident at the intersection, also attended the meeting. During public comments Langston suggested that if the school couldn’t get a traffic light put up to consider another access drive to the school, or extend the 20 mph school zone.

Treasurer Leesa Smith delivered good news for Wynford during her financial report to the Board of Education. The school is set to receive $54,000-$55,000 in reimbursements from Medicaid from fiscal years 2010-2012. Smith also announced that in January the school received $28,000 in revenue from Ohio’s casinos.

Wynford High School teacher Mathew O’Brian proposed a trip to London, England, for the classes of 2016 and 2017. During his presentation, O’Brian explained that the trip would be funded through fundraisers as well as grants through the Cultural Heritage Alliance.(CHA) According to O’Brian the trip would cost about $2,819 per student.

The Board of Education asked O’Brian if he could provide either another group that has used CHA, or a CHA representative to come and speak with the Board.

The Wynford Board of Education approved all personnel items on the agenda including hiring coaches Gabe Kennedy, (assistant baseball coach) Jordan Oliver, (volunteer baseball coach) and Mathew O’Brian (junior high track coach).

All operational items were approved by the Wynford board Wednesday. Operational items included paying a $17,753 contract with the Auditor of the State’s Office for the fiscal year 2013 financial statement audit, and a partnership agreement with the University of Findlay for dual enrollment classes in General Physics, and General Chemistry with Scott Raubun instructing.
