SHELBY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A Shelby City Schools teacher who has been on leave since Feb. 28 was served a warrant on indictment on Sept. 26 on 21 felony counts, including sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, according to Richland County Common Pleas Court records.
Court records show the charges against Stefani Kellenberger, 39, stem from incidents alleged to have occurred from Feb. 20, 2020, to October 2021.
Shelby City Schools notified Kellenberger last May that her teaching position would be filled to ensure continuity and allow teachers to collaborate over the summer months as they plan for the next school year.
Kellenberger was arraigned last Thursday and placed on a $250,000 bond. She is to have no contact with the alleged victim(s) and/or victim’s family or representatives, according to the court.
Kellenberger, who was hired by the district for the 2015-16 school year, teaches sixth-grade English and language arts. Her salary for the 2023-24 school year was $68,814.
Kellenberger is represented by Mansfield lawyer James Mayer III. Crawford County Now reached out to Mayer for comment but received no response.
