A slew of people will soon be doing time in prison after Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced them to various terms Wednesday.

Probation violation; drug abuse; possession of drugs - Schedule III, IV, VTwenty-three-year-old Curtis Newcome, of Crestline, received the longest sentence of the six offenders in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Newcome will serve 36 months in prison for the third-degree felony of drug possession. He was also fined $5,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for six months.

Twenty-three-year-old Stephanie Arbogast, of Galion, received a 12-month prison stay after she admitted to violating her community control. Arbogast admitted to consuming alcohol, being charged with an OVI, and failing to follow the direct order of her supervising officer.

“I’m not going to have any choice in the matter,” Leuthold said as he noted Arbogast was on intervention, violated it, returned to the program, before getting into trouble once again and being placed on community control.

Probation violationTwenty-four-year-old Logan Temple, of Nevada, admitted to violating the terms of his probation when he tested positive for cocaine in January. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison. Temple originally pleaded guilty to drug possession last March and received five years on community control. He served 30 days in the county jail in September, but was continued on probation at that time.

“We throw the kitchen sink at them,” Leuthold said. “Mr. Temple has had his opportunity and squandered it and he’s going to prison.”

Contempt, possession of cocaine, possession of drug abuse instrumentsTwenty-eight-year-old Samantha Dyer, of Bucyrus, will be doing time in prison once again.

Dyer pleaded guilty to fifth-degree felony drug possession and sentenced to eight months in prison. She also received a $1,250 fine and a six-month driver’s license suspension.

“You’re going to have to obey the law, you know that?” Leuthold said. “If you’re going to go back into drugs, you’re likely to get the same results.

“You just can’t seem to stay out of trouble,” Leuthold said to Christopher Sprague as he sentenced the 40-year-old Crestline man to nine months in prison.

Sprague admitted to violating his community control when he smoked marijuana and tested positive for cocaine. A third allegation of taking property from a home in Marion was dismissed as a felony charge was pending in Marion County.

Michael Garrison was sentenced to six months in prison with credit for time served in the county jail. The 32-year-old Galion man admitted to using Valium while on community control.
Garrison pleaded guilty to drug possession in 2013 and placed on community control.
