BUCYRUS — Six people were arrested Friday as part of a drug investigation by Bucyrus Police Department officers.
Johnarae M. Hoskins, 40, was arrested on a warrant and possession of drugs and may have other charges pending. She was arrested along with several others at 1204 High St. location, the original focus of the raid.
John W. Kildow, 39, Bucyrus, was arrested on a warrant and for obstructing official business. Timothy L. Adkins, 29, was arrested on a warrant and possession of drugs while Bradley E. Jordan, 46, faces a variety of charges including falsification, permitting drug abuse and possession of drugs, along with a warrant from a previous case.
Tara Preece, 30, and Jerry Lee Hoskins, 22, were arrested at a second location down the street from the residence at 64 Waterford Glen. They both had active warrants and Preece faces charges of falsification and obstruction after providing false information to officers about her identity.
Officer Tom Walker, the public information officer for the police department, said the investigation began after officers received tips from residents living in the area of the house that has been referred to as a “flop house” since addicts seem to congregate there.
Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the deplorable environment of the residence.
“Some people wonder why it takes us so long to obtain a warrant and conduct a search of a suspected drug house but there is a high level of probable cause that must be met for a judge to issue the warrant and that is how it should be,” Walker said. “We are going into someone’s house where they have an expectation of privacy. We have to make sure that we have reached that high bar that has been set to be able to enter someone’s home.”
Walker encourages local residents to be observant in their neighborhoods and to call in tips when something appears suspicious. The Bucyrus Police Department may be reached at 419-562-1006.
