On Thursday evening the swine took over the arena once again at the Crawford County Fair for the Market Hog Show.
Competition for the Market Hog Show was split between Gilts and Barrows across lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight divisions.
Jenna Siegel took Grand Champion overall with Kelsie Williams taking Reserve Champion. Both Siegel and Williams took Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in the independent class.
Jenna Siegel explained what it takes to raise a champion hog.
“It’s not so much about your hog it is how you take care of them, and how you care for them and what you feed them,” Siegel said.
Emily Dean finished the show with the Grand Champion Gilt. Dean said that it took time trying to figure how to properly feed and walk the hog. Dean explained that watching the progression of the hog was her favorite part.
“The growing up stages and learning what to feed them, as well as learning how to show were my favorite parts,” Dean said.
The arena will host the Showman of showman at 9 a.m., the Livestock Judging contest at noon, and the Jr. Fair Sale of Champions at 5:30 p.m.
