MARION—At 11:10 p.m. on July 21, 2023, Marion Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 290 Libby Lane Apartment 1. Upon their prompt arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of 25-year-old D’Jontaez K. Ross, a resident of the same address.
In connection with the incident, authorities apprehended Justin Brady, aged 21 who is also a resident of 290 Libby Lane Apartment 1. Brady was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center, where he now faces charges of murder in relation to the death of his roommate, Mr. Ross.
Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald lamented the senseless violence that has deeply impacted the lives of many. “A young man has lost his life and another young man faces serious criminal charges because of needless violence,” said Chief McDonald.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing.
During the course of their response to the incident, the Marion Police Department received assistance from multiple agencies. The Marion City Fire Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Marion County Coroner’s Office, and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
