The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was recognized in a special way recently when it was awarded the Dr. Frank Foss EMS Excellence Award.
Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, University of Toledo Medical Center, and St. Rita’s Medical Center, which form the Life Flight/Mobile Life Critical Care Transport Network, presented the award to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 14 at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Toledo. The award is a tradition in the Life Flight program and honors fire, EMS and emergency personnel for providing extraordinary patient care under unusual circumstances.
The Dr. Foss Award was presented for actions taken on March 9, 2013, where Garrett Frye was eastbound on Crestline Rd. and lost control of his 1988 Chevy truck, striking a utility pole. Frye was extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means and was flown from the crash scene.
