BUCYRUS — A news release from the desk of Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent was issued Tuesday morning to provide clarity on an ongoing situation involving a potential threat.
According to the release, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received information during the early morning hours of a potential threat against an unidentified school district in Crawford County on Tuesday, October 16.
The release continues, saying Kent immediately alerted the local police chiefs and superintendents from Crawford County’s six school districts. Kent and his staff have also been in contact with the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the local police department in Crawford County, Georgia.
“After discussions with the FBI and law enforcement in Georgia, we have determined that the information was meant for law enforcement in Crawford County, Georgia and not Crawford County, Ohio,” Kent said in the release. “Our office, along with local police departments, take the safety of all our children seriously and have been working with the school districts to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff in Crawford County.”
No additional information about the incident was available at the time of publication.
The Crawford County Now staff will share additional information as it becomes available.
