BUCYRUS—Allen Heacock, 26, of Fostoria, appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court for a full hearing on allegations he violated the terms and conditions of his community control. Heacock opted for his attorney and the state to argue his sentencing.

Heacock was placed on five years of community control in January after he pleaded guilty to importuning involving a minor, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison. He was designated as a Tier I sex offender with a requirement to register annually for the next 15 years.

According to probation officer Jeremy Clay, Heacock, who was living in Seneca county and under the supervision of their adult probation department, was found to be living in a home with a child who is not his own and had been found to be on social media sites frequented by minors.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold asked Heacock if he was certain he wanted to plead guilty after he told the Judge that a DNA test would prove the child in the home where he resided is his biological child. Heacock said he still wanted to plead guilty.

In an agreed plea negotiation, the state and defense asked Leuthold to impose a flat seven-month prison sentence.

Defense attorney Andrew Motter asked the court to give his client a report date for prison. Motter explained that Heacock is the sole caregiver of his grandmother, who is in hospice care and whose passing is imminent.

Judge Leuthold granted Heacock a report date of July 23rd. He is to report to the Crawford County Sheriff’s office no later than 7:30 pm for transport to prison. Judge Leuthold imposed the additional sanction of a curfew. Heacock must not leave his home after 8 pm.

“I’m giving you 30 days to report. I hope your grandmother is with us for as long as possible. But I will not grant further extensions. “ Leuthold said.

In other court news, Mandy Petty, 39, of Mansfield, pleaded guilty to two counts of drug possession, each a fifth-degree felony and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

In an agreed plea negotiation, Judge Leuthold sentenced Petty to nine months in prison on each count to run concurrently for a total of nine months in prison.

She will forfeit all drug-related property, including electronics and cell phones, to the Galion Police Department. She will receive 18 days of jail time credit.

Lenny Lewis, 53, of Mansfield, pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control after he was charged with intoxication and was exited from the Harmony House program in Mansfield. He also failed to report for a scheduled office visit in April.

Lewis was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2019 after he pleaded guilty to theft, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison. He was granted judicial release in June of 2019 and placed on community control.

Judge Leuthold ordered Lewis returned to prison for the remainder of his 18-month sentence.
