As Crawford County residents who are voting early have discovered there are lots of local reasons to cast a ballot in the General Election, even if you don’t like the options for president.
Local contested races include two of the Crawford County commissioners’ three seats – pitting incumbent Doug Weisenauer against Bucyrus City Council member Daniel Wirebaugh, and incumbent Mo Ressallat against challenger Jeff Teynor.
There is also a contest for county recorder between Dawn Schnabel and Julie Wells.
There are local liquor options on the ballot in Bucyrus, Crestline and two in Galion. New Washington Village has a renewal tax levy up for a vote. Chatfield, Dallas, Jackson, and Vernon townships all have one tax issue to decide and Liberty Township voters have two.
The Bucyrus liquor option is regarding allowing Sunday sales by Ehrhart’s. Sunday sales is the issue in Crestline as well at Kork and Kap. El Tarasco in Galion is also asking for permission for Sunday liquor sales as is the convenience store at Marathon station.
