This Tuesday, July 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lowe Volk Park will be hosting a sensory hike geared toward families who have children with autism. The evening will be filled with a quiet stroll through the park where hikers can listen for the calls of birds.
One of the songs hikers will be listening for will be the Yellow Warbler’s special song, “SWEET, SWEET, SWEET, I’M SO SWEET.” Hikers will also be told which ants, insects, and other critters to keep an eye out for during the trail walk. Along the way, a stop will be made so everyone can get a smell of the mountain mint. For some extra enjoyment, hikers may get the chance to taste a plant or two.
