ONTARIO—The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. hosted their biggest event of the year at the Richland County Fairgrounds to celebrate Older Americans Month. The Senior Spring Extravaganza, held on May 13, welcomed more than 750 older adults to the fairgrounds. The event was in observance of the 2023 theme, “Aging Unbound,” led by the Administration for Community Living to celebrate diverse aging experiences.
Over 60 vendors were present, providing attendees with information about local organizations that could help them stay engaged and independent within their communities. The Area Agency on Aging also provided outreach and information about their programs and services, including vaccine outreach and education.
The event also featured bingo, prizes, lunch, a car show, and entertainment, among other things. The Chief Operating Officer of the Area Agency on Aging, Nicole Williams, said, “This is always my favorite event of the year. It is a time to celebrate, reflect and come together. It allows us all to remember the immense value that America’s aging population brings to our culture and society as a whole.”
The Senior Spring Extravaganza was sponsored by ES Consulting and Richland Public Health, with support from the Aging & Disability Vaccination Collaborative and other community organizations.
