Crawford: 20/20 Vision and Crawford County school districts want local high school seniors to know what their future holds– right here in Crawford County. Senior Day will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the Crawford County Fairgrounds and will feature a number of opportunities for students to learn about what jobs, employers and career paths are waiting for them and what they need to do to get there.
“This event is the largest that the Crawford: 20/20 Vision has undertaken,” said Steve Mohr, superintendent of Wynford Local Schools, and chair of the Vision’s Education and Workforce Development Action Team. “This could be the start of a new era of collaboration between education and business in our county.”
“Many local businesses are having a difficult time finding employees,” he explained. “This will be a chance to interact with an audience of over 200 future employees.”
David Williamson, Crawford County Education and Economic Development Partnership’s director, said it is hoped that students will come away from Senior Day with a renewed interest in what’s next for them close to home.
“We want to retain our best, and brightest, and we want to help students who may not have a plan. There is so much opportunity right here!”
In addition to audiovisual presentations, local employers will be on hand to share their expertise and advice. There also will be motivational speakers, including Tom Ryan, Ohio State’s head wrestling coach, who took OSU wrestling program to national prominence in his seven years at the school, Mohr added.
The students also will be treated to entertainment and lunch while at the fairgrounds. For additional information contact Steve Mohr at 419-562-7828, extension 206 or mohr.steve@wynford.k12.oh.us.
