BUCYRUS—Bucyrus City School Superintendent Bob Britton and Treasurer Ryan Cook have come to the rescue of many Bucyrus kids and families by saving the city’s pool season.
Britton informed the city council that Cook approached him a few weeks ago with an idea to fund the pool’s operation this year. Britton revealed that the school system has received federal and state funding that could be utilized to support the pool.
As a result of Cook’s innovative thinking, Britton told the council that Bucyrus City Schools will buy a pool pass for each student from Pre-K through 12th grade, totaling around 1,000 passes. With this purchase, the pool will be able to function this summer.
Britton expressed his gratitude to Mayor Reser and Councilman Kevin Myers for their cooperation in making the ticket purchases happen.
Mayor Reser has stated that the city must now hire four lifeguards. Interested applicants may pick up an application at City Hall or visit the Bucyrus City website. If certification is required, there is ample time to get certified before the pool opens. Reser expressed gratitude to the YMCA for agreeing to provide the necessary certifications.
Crawford County Now will continue to follow this developing story.
