Connoisseurs of Mexican cuisine will soon have another option when dining in Bucyrus. Los Tapatios will be on the Bucyrus restaurant list when renovations are complete at the now vacant building that last housed Burger King on Marion Road.
“Probably in two months,” said Raul Ornelas about opening the restaurant.
Ornelas, who is heading the venture, is leasing the building. He and others are completely gutting and renovating the inside. Between the dining room and a patio that will be out front, Ornelas said Los Tapatios should seat about 80 patrons.
The menu will be exclusively authentic Mexican food and the operation expects to have a staff of about eight employees. It will be open seven days a week.
Although this will be the first eatery he has owned, Ornelas is no stranger to the restaurant business or the kitchen.
“My family has been in the restaurant business for years,” Ornelas said. “I have been in the kitchen for about 20 years. I was the first chef at Los Arrieros.”
He has lived in Bucyrus for about nine years.
