A second chance to clean up went right out the window for one Bucyrus man Thursday.
Forty-five-year-old Jerry Brown pleaded guilty to two counts of drug possession in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. He admitted to possessing cocaine and Oxycodone on July 21.
Brown was sentenced to five years on community control for the two fifth-degree felonies. He must complete a drug and alcohol assessment. Brown’s driver’s license was suspended for six months and he must pay a mandatory $2,000 drug fine. He must also forfeit any drug-related property being held by the Bucyrus Police Department.
Brown’s troubles didn’t end there. His possession of drugs also violated the terms of his intervention, which he had been on since January. Judge Russell Wiseman accepted Brown’s guilty plea to a 2013 drug possession charge and sentenced him to serve five years on community control. His driver’s license was suspended for six months and he must pay a $1,250 mandatory drug fine.
Daniel Scales pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree domestic violence charge. The forty-nine-year-old Bucyrus man admitted to causing physical harm to two victims on May 15 and has previously been convicted of domestic violence one or more times.
Scales was placed on community control for three years and must have no contact with the victims. He must also pay a $750 fine.
