Police may have had to chase him down but by Wednesday afternoon, Anthony Pfeifer was ready to move on from his mistakes.

Officers from the Bucyrus Police Department chased Pfeifer, 35, in a short foot pursuit on Jan. 11 after receiving a report of trespassing and of a man walking with a crossbow. Police arrested him on multiple charges.

Pfeifer appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Wednesday afternoon to admit to his community control violations relating to the weekend incident. He admitted to possessing drug paraphernalia, resisting a lawful arrest by police, and refusing to submit to a drug test.

Judge Russell Wiseman continued Pfeifer on his community control with the condition that Pfeifer undergoes a substance abuse assessment and any follow-up treatment. After a bit of discussion with Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Hoovler and Parole Officer Dan Wurm, Wiseman added the stipulation that the crossbow will be placed in the custody of someone outside of Pfeifer’s home so that he will not have access to it.

A second chance may soon be slipping through 32-year-old Amanda Thomas’ hands. Thomas, of Elyria, had entered a guilty plea to a felony five receiving stolen property charge, which was to be held until she successfully completed her two years on intervention.

Thomas was in Common Pleas Court Wednesday, however, on a motion for a violation of her intervention. Her violations included testing positive for cocaine, marijuana, opiates and oxycodone on Jan. 7 and moving from her approved residence and failing to notify her supervising officer in October and November of 2013. Since July 26, Thomas has also failed to enter and complete a court-ordered substance abuse program.

Wiseman appointed Timothy O’Leary as Thomas’ counsel and set her bond at $15,000.
