BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District is temporarily closing Sears Woods State Nature Preserve on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, to conduct a controlled deer hunt.

The one-day closure is necessary for a hunt sponsored jointly by the Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves and the Crawford Park District. This measure is typically part of a strategic wildlife management plan to maintain a healthy deer population and protect the preserve’s native plant communities.

The hunt is not open to the general public. Participation is limited exclusively to hunters who have been previously selected.

The Crawford Park District emphasized that the closure is only for Nov. 22 and advised visitors to plan accordingly.

For more information or questions regarding the closure or the controlled hunt, the public is advised to contact the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000.
