COLUMBUS, Ohio — State Executive Director for the Ohio Farm Service Agency (FSA), Steve Maurer, announces the hiring of Amy Schwanger as a farm loan officer in training for Ashland, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron, Lorain, Medina, Richland and Wayne counties. While participating in the Farm Loan Officer Training (FLOT) program, Schwanger will assist the farm loan manager in making, servicing and supervising loans and providing technical advice, guidance and credit counseling to FSA loan applicants and borrowers. Schwanger begins her duties on March 9.
Schwanger graduated from The Ohio State University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture degree in Agricultural Economics. After graduation, Schwanger worked as an agricultural lender at the Fifth Third Bank of Northwestern Ohio where she was responsible for agricultural credit analysis for operating, machinery, and intermediate term loans and real estate mortgages. In 1987, she began working for National City Bank in Norwalk where Schwanger gained additional experience in management of full service branches, employees, teller operations, new accounts and deposit relations. As a commercial lender she managed commercial loan portfolios, credit analysis of business credits, directed area commercial compliance and loan reviews. In 1994, she left National City Bank to care for her family and in 2000, Schwanger had the opportunity to be the Fairfield Township fiscal officer, a position she still holds, and she held positions at the North Fairfield Branch of the Huron County Community Library.
In 2011, Schwanger began her career with FSA as a farm loan program technician in Norwalk where she provided technical and administrative assistance for processing and servicing loans while supporting the farm loan team.
Schwanger looks forward to providing FSA farm loan assistance and support to Ohio farmers.
