BUCYRUS — In a joint statement, the six Crawford County school district’s superintendents shared their plans to light up the sky with the lights at each school’s athletic stadiums to honor the class of 2020.
In honor of the graduating class of 2020, Crawford County superintendents, along with other Ohio schools, are going to be lighting up their stadiums to recognize the senior class on Monday, April 20 at 8:20 p.m.
Though stadiums will remain closed, schools are joining together in solidarity to show support to the seniors and the unexpected changes that have impacted their senior year.
Community members are invited to participate by turning on their porch lights at 8:20 p.m. on Monday.
We know that these unprecedented times have been tough on all students—daily routines being changed, no longer getting to see friends every day, not getting to have the normal classroom learning experience, and no usual spring activities—but we are all in this together. We look forward to the day when we all get to be back in the schools again and return to life as normal. Until then, however, we will continue to support our students in every way that we can.

Districts around the state are taking part in the initiative to honor the 2020 graduates including Upper Sandusky and Mohawk schools.
Some districts are adding to their own celebrations, as Bucyrus City Schools are inviting supporters to come to the stadium parking lot and honk their horns while remaining in their vehicles. The vehicles will then drive down Sandusky Avenue.
Those who are unable to attend their school’s stadium lighting are encouraged to turn their porch lights on during that time and, if possible, change their porch light bulbs to their school’s colors.
The time 8:20 p.m. is represented as 2020 in military time. The lights will be on for 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
