December 16, 2021
Dear Families:
We have recently been made aware of a national social media challenge (Tik Tok) being encouraged and promoted for Friday, December 17. The challenge apparently encourages students to make various threats of violence against local school districts. While this post is on a national scale, it has created cause for concern in our school community and surrounding county.
At this time, there have been NO specific or credible threats made toward the Crestline Exempted Village School District. We are, however, working with the SRO Jason Bush and the Crestline Police Department to monitor the school building and safety of students and staff. We will have extra police presence in our building throughout the day and at the start of the school day tomorrow as a precautionary measure.
We must take all threats seriously, even those made on social media. Any student who is found to be engaged in this type of behavior will face severe consequences, including school and criminal disciplinary action. I’m asking for your help in having a sincere conversation with your children about the responsible use of social media and the importance of reporting any suspected threats to trusted adults.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The safety of your children is our top priority.
Matt Henderson, Superintendent
