NORTH ROBINSON — Monday’s Colonel Crawford Board of Education meeting saw the addition of a new board member, a new president and vice president.
Gordon Grove was named as the newest member to the board, replacing former member Tim Ley.
Gordon Grove has been involved with the Colonel Crawford Local School District for almost 29 years.
“I’ve been the athletic boosters’ treasurer for about 22-and-a-half years and a member of the athletic boosters for 25 years,” Grove said.
“I was approached to be a board member a few other times, but I declined because my wife was a coach at the school and I felt that it was better for me not to be involved at that time,” he said. “When I heard that Mr. Ley was going to run for county commissioner, I was approached a few times by different people about running for school board and I thought that this was the right time.”
Grove said that while he feels he has a lot to offer the school board to help benefit the school, he is going to lean on some of the other board members to “get his feet wet” and learn more about the finances and things dealing with the school in that nature.
The board is very excited to move forward with its new member.
At the meeting, the board unanimously voted to have Brad McKibben as the president and Margie Hoyles as vice president.

Committees also were decided for the year, with McKibben and Norm Huber on finance, Huber and Grove as legislative liaisons, Scott Rike and McKibben on negotiations and personnel, Huber and Rike on school facilities and building and grounds, and Hoyles and Grove on board policy review.
There was also a hearing into the retiring and rehiring of Vickey Stump, who serves as the school’s treasurer. The motion was approved, and starting Jan. 31, her retirement will go into place and she will have a 60-day, no contact period with the school. She will be able to go back and work starting April 2.
The next school board meeting is January 28 and 7 p.m. in the school’s media center.
