CRESTLINE — The Crestline Exempted Village School District Board of Education heard about a campaign that is set to kick off and improve a facilities focal point for the district.
Kris Bruce addressed the board to share the goals of the campaign titled, “Hutson Stadium 2.1.”
Bruce said the goal of the campaign is to raise $350,000 for renovations to Hutson Stadium to include concession stand and bathroom renovations.
Pavers and brick engraving sponsorships will be available as a fundraiser of the project.
Bruce said she believes the pride in Crestline will show and the community will rally to show Coach Hutson’s legacy the way he would have wanted.
Forms for the bricks and pavers will be able to be found on the district’s website under the athletics tab.
Bruce informed the board that the Crawford County Community Foundation currently is holding the first $50,000 toward the project.
She said she hopes the funds are raised to have the project approved within the year.
Also during the public participation portion of the meeting, Brandon Shaffer addressed the board with his concern with the board’s decision to not retain Sam Ryan, a now-former high school business and technology teacher.
Shaffer said Ryan was a great teacher he did many great things for the department.
After the meeting, Board President Jeff Wilhite said the board had no comment on the issue.
Hired during the meeting were Amanda Sowash, sixth- and seventh-grade ELA; Jared Sowash, eighth- and ninth-grade science; Crystal Miller, elementary; and Brian Skowronski, high school business and technology CT.
