NEW WASHINGTON — The school’s students and their achievements were once again a focal point at the Buckeye Central Board of Education meeting.
Of the approximately 600 school districts in the state of Ohio, Buckeye Central was ranked in the 80’s.
Buckeye Central Superintendent Mark Robinson said, “I am pretty pleased about what goes on in the classes and how well the students work together.”
According to stats provided by the state, schools with students who are part of a higher socioeconomic status tend to score better on tests, as opposed to students who don’t have a higher socioeconomic status.
Buckeye Central, however, does not fall into that norm. Being a small community, they should be scoring much lower than what they are on state tests in accordance with the data the state has collected, yet due to the student’s hard-work and the teachers at Buckeye Central, that is not the case, according to the school’s administration.
The board was very pleased to hear how well their students are continuously doing throughout the years.
In other board business, board members approved an eighth-grade educational trip to Washington D.C. in May, with the cost information to be given to parents soon. The trip will be from May 8-11.
The board also approved to move on with the project of fixing the sidewalk and other things at the football stadium, which board members hope will be done by the end of fall.
The next board meeting is Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
