BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The 8th Annual Scholarships for Success event held Thursday, March 6, 2026, at North Central State College’s Crawford Success Center, located at 130 N. Walnut Street in Bucyrus, brought together the Crawford County community to celebrate education and leadership. The annual giving event raised $35,000.

A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the 2026 Leadership Award, presented to Fred Fischer. The honor was announced by Tina Husted, wife of Senator John Husted, recognizing Fischer’s commitment to community leadership and educational opportunity.
Funds raised through Scholarships for Success directly address the number one barrier preventing students from attending college: cost. Proceeds support scholarships, cutting-edge program equipment, modern learning facilities, and the recruitment of exceptional instructors and college leaders.

During the event, the North Central State College Foundation also awarded $500 scholarships to students from several Crawford County high schools. “Scholarships for Success reflects the strong support our community has for education,” said Nate Harvey, manager of the Crawford Success Center. “We’re grateful to the many businesses, artists, and community members who help make these opportunities possible for local students.”
This year’s event also showcased the creativity and generosity of the community through a formal live and silent auction, featuring contributions from local businesses and artists.
“This event shines a spotlight on the exceptional needs of our students and the generosity of the donors who help meet those needs,” said Chris Copper, Vice President for the North Central State College Foundation and Development, at the event. “When we change a life through education, the impact extends across families, employers, and the community for decades to come. Today’s students are eager to gain workforce-ready skills, and they have more opportunities than ever through both in-person and online learning.”
