MARION COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Ridgedale Jr./Sr. High School senior Johnathan Slaughterbeck has been named Scholar Student of the Week and awarded a $500 scholarship from The Ohio State University at Marion. The award was presented by Wayne Rowe, Director of Marketing & Communications at Ohio State Marion. This honor recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to school involvement.

Slaughterbeck has distinguished himself in the classroom, ranking third in his graduating class with a GPA above 3.8. He is a member of the National Honor Society and continues to challenge himself academically by taking College Credit Plus courses through The Ohio State University at Marion.

Beyond academics, Slaughterbeck has been actively involved in the Ridgedale school community. He is a four-year participant in both football and basketball and has been a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) for three years. Currently serving as Student Advisor after previously holding the role of Sentinel, he has demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to his peers.

After graduation, Slaughterbeck plans to pursue a science degree with the goal of becoming a soil scientist.

Each Scholar Student of the Week honoree receives a $500 scholarship and is entered into a drawing for a chance to win an additional $1,000 scholarship at the end of the academic year.
