As you all are aware the election is drawing near. Most of you are mainly concerned with who will win the presidency. However, as we live in a small community, our local election has just as much importance. I would like to concentrate on an office that many of you may not even know about, the Crawford County Recorder’s Office. This office deals with the recordation of documents such as deeds, mortgages, easements, leases, liens and DD/214 (service discharge papers). This office is very important to our county as the documents that have been recorded have been kept since the early 1800’s.

Our up and coming election for Crawford County Recorder consists of 2 parties, 1- Julie Wells (Republican) and 2- Dawn Schnabel (Democrat). Of course we all have our own political party views and will vote under the assumption that party will be best but I strongly urge you, if you are choosing Republican not to and to vote for Dawn Schnabel because she is the best candidate for the job.

I personally have been a researcher for 22 years and spend lengthy time in the Crawford County Recorder’s Office and I am very familiar with how that office functions. I’ve seen how the former Recorder (Ruth McKibben Volk) and the present Recorder (Karen Scott) have made our County Recorder’s Office one of the easiest counties to research in. That is why I believe no one else is right for the position other than Dawn Schnabel.

Dawn has worked for Crawford County for 26 years. Her first 8 years as a teacher’s aide for Fairway. She has been with the Recorder’s Office for 18 years and has been the Chief Deputy for 12 of those years which is her current position. Dawn has the experience, knowledge and skills to keep this office running without error. Dawn is always going above and beyond to keep the records in order and she will continue to work hard, promote and fund the future of our County Recorder’s Office in order to make documents easily accessible.

Dawn was born and raised in Bucyrus. Family is very important to Dawn. She has been happily married to her soul mate, Doug Schnabel for 34 years. They have 3 children, Jade, Cody and Chelsea and 5 grandchildren, Ricky, Makaila, Caleb, Jake and Ella.

Dawn wants to be in office to continue the positive work place and to give back to her community. I strongly urge you to vote DAWN SCHNABEL for our next CRAWFORD COUNTY RECORDER as she is the only one right for the job.
