The Sexual Assault Response Network (SARN) met on Tuesday afternoon at the Bucyrus Community Hospital to discuss better ways to educate the public on what to do in the event of a sexual assault.

During the presentation given by Director of Sexual Assault Services Nancy Radcliff, and Crawford County Victim’s Advocate Jim Scott it was reported that many sexual assault cases go unreported with many of the victims feeling that they are at fault.

During the SARN meeting’s presentation it was emphasized that rape is never the victim’s fault, and they should report the sexual assault immediately. By reporting the assault to a law enforcement official, or the hospital each member of SARN plays an important role with easing the trauma.

With the Help Line in Crawford County people have an outlet if they wish to seek help. Each time that a sexual assault is not reported, it could lead to further incidents down the road.

Louanne Hufford was introduced as the area’s sexual assault services coordinator. Hufford’s position is funded by a grant from the Ohio Attorney General’s office. Hufford can be contacted at 419-563-1825.
