BUCYRUS — A local business whose employees focus their energy on giving their clients new looks, has received a new look itself.

Kennedy Layne Salon, located at the corner of North Sandusky Avenue and Mary Street in Bucyrus, is prepared to provide more services to its clients after the business was expanded.

Owner Kelly Redmon said the 660-square-feet addition was the next necessary step for the salon.

Kennedy Layne Salon is a center of hustle and bustle as it’s the professional home of seven stylists and one esthetician. The salon had multiple styling stations, but before the construction of the addition, multiple other services had to be placed in one central room in the salon.

Redmon said one room in the salon housed pedicures, a nail technician station, spray tans, a styling station and also was the laundry room, causing a scheduling nightmare.

She said employees had to schedule the room in advance to be able to use the stations located there.

“We’re a happy little family, but we were just on top of each other,” Redmon said. “We just needed more space.”

Falling over each other is now all a thing of the past.

The addition to the salon includes two new styling stations, a nail technician station, a spray tan room and a room for the services provided by esthetician Jessica Lederer. Those services include facials, full-body waxing, eyelash lifting and tinting, eyebrow tinting and spray tans.

Redmon said the additional private rooms enhance the experience for the clients. Along with providing a specific space for Lederer to perform esthetician services, the spray tan room provides more privacy for the client. Redmon added the room is also better ventilated during the spray tanning process.

The new space also provides more opportunity to expand the staff at Kennedy Layne Salon. Redmon said she currently has two unoccupied hair styling stations and an unoccupied nail tech station and is welcoming inquiries to fill them.

A relaxing atmosphere that continued the feel of the existing salon was a main priority for Redmon during the construction.

“I wanted everything to flow,” Redmon said. “With the colors and the ambiance of the salon, I wanted to flow back to the new area.”

An accent wall decorated with shiplap also serves an additional purpose in the new wing. The wall is the background for the daily posts the Kennedy Layne Salon staff make on Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat.

For now, Redmon said the additions and renovations are complete, but is sure changes always will be coming for the salon that will celebrate its five-year anniversary Feb. 24.
