MOUNT GILEAD — The Safe Haven Teen Center opened its doors on Friday, April 14, and the Morrow County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to help them welcome everyone.

The Safe Haven Teen Center is located at 290 Lincoln Avenue at the corner of Lincoln and Delaware Street in Mount Gilead.

“The center was created to be a fun and safe place for teens to grow and succeed. They are excited to be a resource for middle and high schoolers. They have video games, laptops, crafts, chill-out areas, billiards, ping pong, video gaming systems, and more to enjoy,” the Chamber said.

They plan to install a shower and laundry unit in the cafeteria bathroom to assist kids who don’t have access to these at home. Hot meals will be provided.

All of this is free and open to kids ages 12-18. They are open every Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. starting on April 21.

They are accepting donations and volunteers. If you’d like to help out, contact Kathryn Stiffler at the center on Fridays or send your donation to her at P.O. Box 133, Mount Gilead, OH 43338.

“The Morrow County Chamber of Commerce is proud to help this necessary organization spread the word for the kids in our community.”
