SHELBY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Sacred Heart School’s 132nd annual festival is set for Sunday, July 27, offering a full day of family-oriented fun, food and entertainment on the parish grounds at 5742 State Route 61 South, Shelby, Ohio 44875, between Crestline and Shelby. The festivities kick off at 11 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m.
The highlight of this century-old tradition is the renowned chicken and ham dinners. Festivalgoers can enjoy a half-barbecued chicken or ham dinner, complete with homemade dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, roll and butter, pickled eggs and beets, and a choice of applesauce or coleslaw. Homemade desserts and a choice of coffee, iced tea, or lemonade are also included. Adult meals are $14, while a smaller quarter-chicken meal is available for $12. An air-conditioned dining hall will provide a cool escape from the summer heat, and grill service and concessions will be open throughout the day.

Once fed, families can explore a variety of activities. The kids’ tent, open until 6 p.m., offers an assortment of games. Older children can challenge themselves with putt-putt golf, while younger ones will enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides and live animal attractions.
Adults can browse the Farmers Market Booth for garden produce and home-baked treats or admire antique farm machinery on display. For those feeling lucky, instant bingo and other games of chance will be available.

The festival also features numerous raffle opportunities, including a MEGA raffle with exciting prizes such as a hot air balloon ride, $500 off Sacred Heart tuition, freezer meat, an original painting, a gas grill, a family fun pack to a local haunted maze, a Sacred Heart-themed basket, a bicycle, and an Apple Watch. Hourly drawings, 50/50 drawings, and a reverse raffle with a $1,500 top prize are also planned. The Bavarian Village will be open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., providing live musical entertainment.

Plenty of shaded seating and free parking will be available throughout the parish grounds.
