BUCYRUS — Excitement filled the air of the Youth Building at the Crawford County Fairgrounds on Sunday evening as the 2019 Junior Fair King and Queen were announced.
Eighteen-year-old Bella Walter, a recent graduate of Colonel Crawford High School and the daughter of Phil and Anna Walter, was announced at the 2019 queen.
“This was my first time even running. I never wanted to enter the contest because I was always the girl in the cowboy boots and flannel,” Walter said. “But I realized it is more than a crown. It’s about the experience and opportunity and inspiring others and that’s what I want to do. This will give me an awesome opportunity to inspire others.”
Levi Hartschuh was crowned 2019 Junior Fair King. He is the son of David and Leah Hartschuh and is a junior at Wynford High School.
Mariah Cotsamire, the 17-year-old daughter of Mike and Mary Cotsamire, is a senior at Colonel Crawford High School and was named the first attendant to the queen. Nathan Wingert, son of Tim and Kelly Wingert, was named the king’s first attendant.
A sophomore at Colonel Crawford High School, Corin Feik took home the crown of Junior Fair Princess. She is the daughter of Phillip and Michelle Feik and did not give up on her dream of being crowned princess after vying for the title two times before.
“This is my third year in the contest and my first time to win,” Feik said. “I was scared but my mom always told me I just need to take a deep breath and be myself. She just pushed me to try again and I am so glad she did.”
Feik said it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and she recommends that others participate and continue to try to reach their goals.
Connor Corwin, a 13-year-old student at River Valley High School, was named Junior Fair Prince. He is the son of Aaron and Jill Corwin.
Feik’s court consists of first princess attendant Brooke Slagle and second attendant, Kaleen Pratt. Slagle is the 15-year-old daughter of Chad and Kriste Slagle while Pratt is 14 years old and the daughter of Traci and Joe Pratt.
Other queen contestants included Sydney Harris, Alana Burkhart, Madison Furr, Sydnee Corwin and Jodie Jennings.
The winners will preside over various events throughout the 162nd Annual Crawford County Fair this week and will travel to other fairs throughout the year.
