As the warm weather starts to pick up so does road construction. The following roadways will be under construction, or continuing construction in the first week of May.

The rehabilitation and widening project of State Route 61/State Route 598 (Portland Way South), from Harding Way to Grove Avenue, will move in to its first phase of construction this week in the City of Galion. Northbound traffic will be reduced to a one-way street; however, southbound traffic will be detoured starting Friday, May 9. Traffic will be detoured on to Harding Way, State Route 18 and State Route 288. The project is expected to be complete in November 2014.

State Route 598, at the CSX railroad tracks just south of Crestline Road in the village of Crestline, will close Monday, May 5 for repair work. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 598 to US Route 30, west on US 30 to State Route 602, north on SR 602 to County Road 330, east on CR 330 to SR 598, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on May 15, 2014.

State Route 61/State Route 309, just south of Monnett-New Winchester Road in Polk Township, continues to be closed for railroad crossing repair work. The detour route for southbound motorists is State Route 61/State Route 309 to State Route 19, south on SR 19 to State Route 288, west on State Route 288 to State Route 61 or State Route 309, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

State Route 61, just north of State Route 309 in the City of Galion, is closed for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is State Route 61 to State Route 309, west on State Route 309 to State Route 598, north on State Route 598 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to State Route 61, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on May 16, 2014.

State Route 97, from the City of Galion to the Morrow County line, is restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete on July 31, 2014.
