Two people are dead after a collision at Ohio 4 and Brokensword Road Friday afternoon.
According to the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Reynoldsburg, Ohio couple was killed as a result of a two vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:35 p.m. Friday on Ohio 4 at the intersection of Brokensword Road in Crawford County.
Fifty-three-year-old Louann E. Widdoes had been traveling northbound on Ohio 4 in a 2011 Chevrolet Mailbu with her husband, 56-year-old Robert D. Widdoes, when their vehicle was struck in the left side by a 1996 Buick Regal that had been traveling eastbound on Brokensword Road. The driver of the Buick Regal, 18-year-old Jason D. Bell of Ashland, had failed to stop for a posted stop sign. Both vehicles came to rest in a field near the intersection after the collision.
Bell and two passengers, 19-year-old Christopher Barber and 18-year-old Nicholas Evans both of Mansfield, were transported to Bucyrus Community Hospital by Life Star Ambulance. Another passenger in the Buick, 21-year-old Michelle L. Moore of Mansfield, was transported by Mercy Life Flight helicopter to Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo.
The Widdoes were pronounced dead at the scene by Crawford County Coroner Michael Johnson.
The crash remains under investigation. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the Chatfield and Holmes Township fire departments assisted at the scene.
