The month of May and June marks the end of another school year for many. However, the beginning of summer marks the end of a career for some. The Galion City School District Board of Education took time to recognize retiring staff members during its regular meeting May 21.
Twelve individuals made the 2014-2015 school year their final year in education. Collectively, this year’s retirees take with them nearly 300 combined years of experience.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to personally thank all of the retirees for their selfless service to the students, families and staff of the Galion City School District,” Superintendent Mark Stefanik said. “They will be missed dearly, and we wish them nothing but the best as they begin this new chapter in their lives.”
This year’s retirees include: Joyce M. Atwood, Jeraldine K. Deffendoll, Sheila M. Dyer, Nancy A. Green, Charles A. Haspeslagh, Linda G. Hiatt, Paula D. Iler, Andrew M. Johnson III, Sandra K. Powell, Kathy A. Sage, Joe D. Tucker and Kimberle A. Tucker. Each retiree received an engraved mantle clock from the Board of Education as a small token of gratitude for their service.
