The Central Joint Ambulance District spent more time Wednesday discussing the wording of the ambulance service contract to go up for bid.

Ambulance response times that will be placed within the contract were discussed. Crawford County EMA Director Tim Flock presented a map of the county to the board members in which 10-minute increments were plotted out. Flock suggested that the ambulance district review which townships have the highest volume of calls and possibly place an ambulance near those areas during peak times. Flock also explained that some variances, such as severe weather, can’t be avoided.

The board tabled discussion and appointed a committee comprised of three board members, Flock, Jon Brown, and a representative of the fire chiefs within the ambulance district to do more research on run times.

Crawford County Prosecutor Matt Crall reported to the board that he and Sandusky Township Representative Jason Long had reviewed the current draft of the contract and made updates to the contract which had been discussed in previous meetings.

The board also approved Attorney Lawrence T. Bennett to be used at Matt Crall’s discretion to assist in reviewing the contract that will be up for bid for the fee of $250 per hour. Dallas Township representative Milton Underwood brought up the idea of using Bennett after attending a course the attorney taught at a fire and EMS convention.

In Life Support’s report to the board there were 187 9-1-1 calls received with 24 variances, 17 refusals, eight false alarms and eight cancelations. The board tabled the variances until Life Support COO Jesse Sipe can give a more detailed variance report.

The next CJAD board meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on June 17 at the Sheriff’s Office.
