BUCYRUS — Three new members attended their first Bucyrus City Schools Board of Education meeting Monday evening, and immediately were made aware of the upcoming departure of two long-time employees.
Board members Dave Jones, Randy Blankenship and Christa Graves were sworn in Monday evening to participate in their first meeting after being elected in November.

During the meeting, the board was informed Bucyrus Middle School Assistant Principal Jay Dennison, who has been employed at Bucyrus City Schools for more than 30 years, will resign May 29. Dennison was approved as a retire-rehire employee at the May 23, 2019 meeting.
The board also was told long-time secondary school secretary Norene Bard will resign Feb. 1 for the purpose of retirement.
Jones said he was upset to see both employees submit their resignations but thanked them for their combined decades of service to the district.
Also during the meeting, treasurer Ryan Cook said the district’s revenue is down approximately $400,000 form this time last year, however, said more than $200,000 of that is Medicaid reimbursement that was received last year but has not been received this year. Cook said that money is considered bonus revenue if it is dispersed from the federal government to the state and then local level. He said it is not taken into account when the district’s annual budget is made.
Superintendent Matt Chrispin told the board during his report that and issue with Google caused more than 750 district-owned Chromebooks to become unlicensed. Cook updated the board that the issue was fixed Monday morning and the laptops again were operational.

To begin the evening, the board had its annual organizational meeting to welcome the three new board members and elect its president and vice president.

Jones was elected board president and Blankenship was elected vice president.
