Press releases

All students in grades K-12 in the Galion City School District are required to have proof of immunizations from a healthcare professional in order to continue attending school this year. According to policies adopted by the Galion City School District Board of Education, students requiring immunizations must show proof of an appointment no later than Sept. 7.

The Board policy, 5111.03 Section B, reads: “The immunization records required by Section A.1 may be submitted no later than fourteen (14) days after the child is admitted provided, however, that if these records are not provided, the student shall, after notice to the parent and an opportunity for a meeting, be removed from school. Parents admitting a child without appropriate immunization records shall be informed of this provision at the time the other documents are provided.”

Students entering the 7th grade have been required to have a Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis), and are now also required to have a meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine. Students entering the 12th grade are now being required to have a meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine.

Immunization waivers are available on the school district website at www.galionschools.org. Please contact the Galion City School District Student Services office at 419-468-3432 with any questions.
