BUCYRUS — Jeremy Alspach of Bucyrus was arraigned in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on new charges of domestic violence.
Alspach, 21, is currently on community control for a previous domestic violence charge. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim in the case.
Alspach is now charged with violating his community control after another alleged attack on the victim.
Alspach’s actions resulted in a charge of domestic violence, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison.
According to assistant prosecutor Ryan Hoovler, Alspach was caught on surveillance footage attacking the victim.
“He is seen physically hitting a female to the point that a 5-6 year old child felt they needed to intervene to protect their mother,” Hoovler said.
Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leüthold asked the state and Alspach’s defense attorney, Andrew Motter, for bond recommendations.
Hoovler cited that the assault was caught on tape, the violation of his community control and that his history of domestic violence that has now escalated to a third-degree felony. Hoovler asked for a $100,000 bond.
Motter asked for a lower bond Alspach, noting he has ties to the community.
During the hearing, Leüthold became agitated with Alspach when he saw him laughing during the proceedings.
“I didn’t realize this was so funny. Did I miss a joke?” Leüthold asked.
Leüthold entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Alspach. He ordered a $25,000 bond on the community control violation and $75,000 on the new charge for a total bond of $100,000.
