BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus apartment complex once known as Bucyrus Plaza, nestled behind the Southern Lights Shopping Center, has undergone an extensive renovation project and has been given a new name.

The property is owned by Millennia Housing Management that is led by Frank T. Sinito. The company focuses on resident satisfaction and providing safe and sanitary housing for all individuals.

“Frank has high expectations for his properties and come and walks the properties several times each year. He wants to make sure all his properties are clean and in good order,” said Angela Shrewsberry, property manager of Lincoln Meadows.

She took over the position in 2016 after working as an assistant property manager in the Galion and Crestline areas.

“When I took the position, the company was in the middle of a major $2.4 million rehabilitation project here,” Shrewsberry said. “All the apartments have been updated with new wood flooring and security systems. There are cameras throughout the property.”

She said one of her first goals was to rid the complex of drugs and the people dealing them.

“I work closely with law enforcement and turn over video when drugs have been being sold or used,” Shrewsberry said.

She also evicts tenants who are participating in drug activity.

“One tenant begged me to not evict her and actually sought help for her addiction,” she said. “She is still here and doing very well now. She has thanked me for giving her a chance and that makes me feel good that I was able to be a positive influence in her life and path to recovery. We have a zero-tolerance for drugs at the complex.”

Shrewsberry said a community and activity center was recently constructed on the property.

“We have a computer center and a craft room. We have Christmas and Halloween parties for the residents and are planning an Easter egg hunt for the children this spring. It is our goal to ensure the safety and satisfaction of our residents,” Shrewsberry said. “We have residents who have lived here on the elderly and handicap side of the complex for 20 or 30 years and they have thanked our team for making it a clean, safe place to live. This is not the plaza anymore and we want people to understand that.”

She said quarterly inspections required by HUD are conducted every quarter and residents are expected to keep their apartments clean and free of clutter.

“Even the patio areas of each apartment are kept free of clutter. This is Section 8 Housing, which means the amount of rent is based on the household income of each resident. We want the complex to be a desirable and secure place to live,” Shrewsberry said.

Tee Cassidy, a resident, moved to the property for the security it offers.

“There are cameras at every apartment door and throughout the complex,” Cassidy said.

She said 20 years ago she would not have considered living at the apartment complex.

“But now, I feel safer than anywhere else in town,” Cassidy said. “And the people out here watch out for each other.”

The complex offers one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments, including handicap accessible and elderly units. All the apartments are cable-ready and free cable and Wifi are offered in the community center. An on-site laundry facility is also offered along with on-site storage, planned social activities and the playground area for kids, complete with security cameras.

“Each apartment has air conditioning, walk-in closets and comes with a refrigerator and stove,” Shrewsberry said.

She said there is a waiting list of people who are hoping to move into the complex, but applications are available.
