MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Renaissance Theatre is bringing Bram Stoker’s legendary tale to life with a chilling new stage adaptation of Dracula, written and directed by Ryan Shealy. The production will be held in the theater’s intimate black box venue, Theatre 166, with performances on two weekends in October.

The one-act play delivers a stripped-down, terrifying experience told from Mina’s haunting perspective. With a blend of live theater and horror, the show promises a gothic atmosphere, striking visuals, and a sense of creeping dread.

“Our biggest goal with this production is to make it scary,” Shealy said. “It’s only one act, but it’s a wild ride that might feel a bit like a haunted attraction for some.”

The production features an original score and sound design by Aaron James Nicolas, lighting by Nik Demers, set design by Jason Kaufman, and costumes by Linda Turske. It remains true to Stoker’s novel while adding some unexpected twists.

Seating is limited for each performance, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, and Friday, Oct. 10; at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 11; and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 12.

Tickets are $29 for general admission and are available at rentickets.org, by calling the Renaissance Box Office at 419-522-2726, or by visiting the theater at 138 Park Avenue West, Mansfield.

Dare to step into the shadows this October—if you’re brave enough.
