MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Renaissance Theatre has announced upcoming auditions for the Mansfield Youth Theatre (“MY Theatre”) production of “Shrek, The Musical, Jr.,” with casting calls scheduled for late January.

Auditions will take place at the Renaissance’s Theatre 166 venue, located at 166 Park Avenue West, on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. No appointments are necessary.

The production is open to students between the ages of 9 and 18, provided they are still attending high school during the 2025-26 academic year. Hopeful performers should prepare a 16-to-32 measure vocal excerpt of their choice. The theatre will provide an accompanist, and auditionees are required to bring sheet music in the proper key.

In addition to vocal performances, some actors may be asked to read scenes from the script. Applicants must also provide a list of any schedule conflicts between the audition dates and the performance run, scheduled for March 27-29, 2026.

Dauphne Maloney will direct the production, with Brian K. Nabors serving as musical director. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film and the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, “Shrek Jr.” follows the journey of a reclusive ogre, a wisecracking Donkey, and the feisty Princess Fiona.

“Shrek Jr.” is presented as part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series. The production features sensory-friendly accommodations supported by the Gorman-Rupp Company, with additional support from the Ohio Arts Council, Nationwide Children’s, and Buckeye Express Car Wash.
