BUCYRUS — Due to a lack of volunteers, there is not a Crawford County Relay event planned for this summer.

According to Mary Lynn Robertson, Community Development Manager for the North Central Ohio Region of the American Cancer Society, an event could still be held if an individual or group of people want to plan it.

“I just need to get someone or a group of folks who want to take on planning the event that best fits your community.  I have been looking for someone or a group and have been unsuccessful,” said Robertson.

Robertson said the amount of volunteers needed to carry out the event can vary.

“Three to twenty-five people are needed but the number is limitless. We are looking for those who have a passion to want to cure cancer and raise money for the American Cancer Society’s mission,” said Robertson.

She said that there are members of the community who want to participate.

“We are just looking for someone to lead them,” said Robertson.

Local groups, such as the DBC Relay Team, are continuing their fundraising efforts and can send their donations to North Central Region, American Cancer Society, Inc., 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.

“I would suggest that the teams include a not with their donations so they can receive the proper credit,” Robertson said.
