MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Renaissance Theatre has opened registration for its annual “Broadway Camp!” summer theatre program for students ages 8-13. The in-person camp will be offered during the weeks of June 16-20 and June 23-27.

“Broadway Camp!” options include a traditional three-hour morning camp from June 16-20 (no session on June 19) and a full-day, six-hour “Broadway Camp Showz!” camp from June 23-27. All sessions are designed to be sensory-inclusive. Tuition is $110 for the June 16-20 camp and $125 for the June 23-27 session. Full and partial scholarships are available.

The “Broadway Camp Showz!,” added in 2022, allows participants to further explore musical theatre by presenting a fully staged Broadway Kids-style production. The production, adapted from a popular Broadway musical, is designed for young actors. Participation in “Broadway Camp Showz!” requires prior completion of a two or three-hour “Broadway Camp” or “Broadway Camp, Too!” session.

The Renaissance “Broadway Camp!” programs offer students of all abilities the chance to explore musical theatre through theatre games, improvisation, dramatic play, staging, and singing. The 4 and 5-day sessions aim to provide an inclusive experience where children can learn, grow, and perform. Each camp session culminates in a special performance for family and friends.

The camp is coordinated and led by Renaissance teaching artist Dauphne Maloney, known for her work in youth theatre in North Central Ohio. Maloney is also the founder and director of Mansfield Youth Theatre (MY Theatre), former Resident Director for the Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre (RYOT), and a youth theatre director at The Ohio State University-Mansfield. Participating students will work directly with Maloney and seasoned youth theatre actors.

Registration is limited. To register, visit rentickets.org. For more information, including details for those with sensory sensitivities, scholarship inquiries, or other needs, contact dauphne@mansfieldtickets.com.

“Broadway Camp!” is presented as part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series, with support from the Richland County Foundation Summertime Kids fund, Sharon Granter in memory of her late husband, Don, and in memory of Euthymious Ghessouras.
