Delivering professional driving and riding instruction to individuals with varying skill levels, The Mid-Ohio School tailors courses for inexperienced teenage drivers, focusing on life-saving defensive driving techniques. Simultaneously, it offers seasoned racers valuable tips to enhance their competitive edge.
Commencing on April 6-7, the popular Teen Defensive Driving Program classes kick off the season, followed by high-performance driving and racing courses, as well as performance track riding for sportbike owners starting in May. The Mid-Ohio School also hosts Open Test & Tune twilight events on select late afternoons and evenings, allowing drivers to take their personal street-legal or race cars on track for some lapping.
Craig Rust, president of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and The Mid-Ohio School, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The Mid-Ohio School team looks forward to welcoming drivers and riders back to our facility with its newly-paved track surface for another exciting season. Our world-class instructors, led by our long-time director Sonny Gee, ensure each participant receives individual attention and coaching.”
Rust added, “Participants can expect not only memorable experiences and techniques for faster times on the track but also invaluable skills for their everyday driving and riding on the roadways.”
In addition to the Teen Defensive Driving Programs in April, noteworthy schedule highlights include the High Performance Course on May 14 and Open Test & Tune sessions for race cars and street cars on May 2. Sportsbike enthusiasts can enjoy a full-day Performance Track Riding session on May 13 on the 2.4-mile, 15-turn road course. The Corporate Driving Experience offers opportunities for fleet training and team building events.
The Mid-Ohio School enhances the driving experience with a fleet comprising Acura ILXs, Honda Civics, and Honda S2000s, all customized with Cooper Tires, Hawk Brake pads, and Summit Racing products. Two vehicles are equipped with skid systems to practice car control techniques for challenging weather conditions, addressing oversteer and understeer situations.
The Mid-Ohio School’s commitment to excellence is further supported by sponsors such as Malco, Quality Inn & Suites, and Sunoco.
