CRESTLINE — Carl Schleissheimer of the Crestline branch of the American Red Cross came to the Crestline Village Council meeting on Monday evening to express his thanks for a recent decision made by council.

“I want to thank Linda Horning-Pitt, John Rostash, the council and other members of the administration for extending the rental renewal for the Red Cross so we can continue to serve the residents of Crawford County,” Schleissheimer said.

Mayor Linda Horning-Pitt said she recently attended several meetings and has been promoting the positive growth Crestline is experiencing.

“I attended the Galion-Crestline Chamber Chat representing our village and was able to let everyone know that Crestline is growing and that we will have three new businesses opening in the spring,” Horning-Pitt said during her mayor’s report.

Village Administrator John Rostash presented his report to council and gave an update on the Main Street waterline replacement project.

“Buckeye Excavating is waiting on the last section of the water main to pass a pressure test. Once passed, service connections will be installed. Buckeye Excavating will be notifying residents of the connections and residents in the area can expect a brief disruption in service while the contractor is changing the connection from the old line to the new one,” Rostash said. “The construction zone is from Wiley Street to Seltzer Street. Please drive with caution in this area. We will do our best to keep the community informed on our website, www.crestlineoh.com and our Facebook, page @CrestlineOhio.”

Rostash said the Crestline Service Department has installed new LED lights downtown on Seltzer Street.

“This project gives a beautiful, uniform look to our downtown and is a cost savings to our electric bill,” Rostash said.

Council approved two ordinances regarding the property of Todd and Kelly Schroeder and Matthew Schaeferle that is being annexed into the village.

Resolutions were passed that included the mayor’s appointment of Ryan Swank as a part-time firefighter and Jason Eckert as a part-time paramedic on the Crestline Fire Department. Devin Wireman’s appointment to be promoted to a full-time police officer on the Crestline Police Department also was approved by council.

A finance committee meeting is scheduled for Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. and a legislative committee meeting will be March 5 at 4:30 p.m. The next regular council meeting is March 2 at 6:30 p.m.
