Rachel’s Challenge, a national non-profit organization dedicated to creating safe, connected school environments where learning and teaching are maximized, will bring its message to Galion Middle School on Sept. 10. The presentation begins at 7 p.m., and is free for anyone who wishes to attend.
“We are very excited to bring this national program to Galion,” Middle School Principal Jennifer Allerding said. “While we have a safe school environment, we are committed to promoting an environment that ultimately enhances student achievement.”
Based on the life and writing of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine tragedy in 1999, Rachel’s Challenge provides a continual improvement process for schools designed to awaken the learner in every child. Since her death, Rachel’s family and friends have traveled the world speaking about her life, treating others with kindness and forgiveness.
“This powerful message reminds us all that actions of one person can make a difference,” Allerding said. “It is our hope that we can come together to start a chain reaction of kindness in the Galion community.”
