BUCYRUS―Interim Law Director Brian Gernert had his probation continued after he pleaded guilty to violating the terms of probation in May. Visiting Judge David Tyack presided over the hearing. When asked by Judge Tyack for prosecution input after Gernert pleaded guilty,
Prosecutor Andrea Boyd told the court:

“We want to make sure he keeps that, (referring to his law license), so we need to figure out what we need to do to help him be successful and stay away from alcohol.”
Boyd also told the court they were considering using a different provider and intensifying probation care. Boyd told the court that Gernert is facing disciplinary action from the Ohio Board of Professional Conduct.
“We never want anyone to be unsuccessful,” Boyd said.

Judge Tyack ordered Gerbert to comply with the terms of his probation, including no use of alcohol or drugs. He extended Gernert’s probation an extra year.
